Originally published in November 1995, Filmtracks.com was officially launched in October 1996, serving the soundtrack industry with its first library of original online reviews. Hundreds of millions of pageviews later, Filmtracks remains the most visable elder statesman of the soundtrack genre on the web.

Filmtracks exists at a crossroads between the movie and music industries, with soundtracks attracting both movie-goers and music enthusiasts alike. There are two different, but consistent crowds of visitors that Filmtracks: first, the 3000-5000 hardcore soundtrack collectors, and second, the tens of thousands of casual movie and music fans each day who come to the site seeking CD information, opinions on movies, lyrics, sheet music, etc. Based on a 2001 survey, these viewers tend to be between the ages of 18 and 32, 60% male, and habitual movie-goers.

As a content site, Filmtracks features over one million words of unique review material. Extensive information about each album covered at Filmtracks prompts significant user participation, with hundreds of thousands of forum comments and an equal number of votes throughout the site. The reviews and attached comment areas receive almost all of the traffic from the casual movie-going fans, while the home page, primary forum, and internal search engine receive consistent viewership from the hardcore soundtrack collectors. Our object is to continue providing content that bridges the gap between both types of viewership.

Within the soundtrack genre, Filmtracks' traffic is substantially greater than that of the newer sites offering similar content. From the 300+ links in the Yahoo! directory in the late 1990's to the recognition of Entertainment Weekly and CNN, Filmtracks continues to build upon its longevity. In October 2005, Filmtracks received about 750,000 unique visitors (a "visit" defined as a 30 minute break in activity per IP), 2 million page loads, and 500,000 image impressions. Both image-based and text-based ads are available, including special deals for hidden text links to maximize your search engine optimization.

Advertisers at Filmtracks have included record labels, studios, film composers, magazines, music-related retailers, and the agencies that represent all of the above. The banners at Filmtracks for one record label, C.A.M. Original Soundtracks of Italy, have been so successful for their company that they have retained the top 468x60 positions in three major sections of the site for eight years. Competitive CPMs under $3, high traffic in the genre, the cross-over viewership between movies and music fans, and the option for a performance guarantee (a makegood that ensures your ads will run for a certain length of time) give Filmtracks a unique advantage for your consideration.
