Auction Rules:

Signing up:

To sign up, send mail to auction@filmtracks.com and state that you want to participate. Include your e-mail address and your first name with last initial. It's not absolutely necessary that you use your name, though it's recommended. If you don't wish to use your name, a non-offensive false name will work (example: "Obi-Wan K").
Auction updates list your name next your bids, normally in a first-name, last-initial format ("Winter M", "Eric C"). If you share a common first name and last initial with another bidder, additional letters of your last name will also appear as needed ("Jesus Co", "Jesus Ch").
If you wish to inquire about the condition of a product, verify its label number, or learn about the product's origins, send an e-mail to query@filmtracks.com and a Filmtracks webmaster will respond promptly.

Duration:

This is a simultaneous, multiple item once-twice-sold auction. The auction is over for different people at different times. It's over for you when you're finished submitting bids and all of the items you've bid on have moved to "sold" status. This is different than many automated auctions on-line; instead of having a definite end-date for the auction, open items will stay open until the end of time (or a bidder comes around).
Once the auction begins, there will be a two week open bidding period during which no item will begin advancing towards "sold." After the fourteen day, items with bids begin their six-day "going once, going twice, sold" process. Items change to "going once, going twice, and sold" after sitting for at least 48 hours without a new bid (respectively). This means it takes at least 6 days for a given item to advance from a new bid to "sold." Therefore, if you bid on an item on the opening day of the auction, it will take a minimum of 20 days to advance to "sold." If you bid on an open item after the first two weeks of the auction, it would take a minimum of 6 days to "sold." An advantage of this system is the lack of "last second out-bidding" --so if you've had the high bid on an item for 5 days and 23 hours after the auction has proceeded to its final stage, and someone cunningly outbids you, the six-day process of "going once, going twice, and sold" starts again and you have time to respond.
Although there is no termination date for the auction, look for most items to be closed ("sold") approximately four weeks after the opening date.

Bidding:

Send bids to auction@filmtracks.com. The Filmtracks webmaster will feed these to the server in batches every few hours. If the webmaster is indisposed with other business when bids arrive (airplane flights, hospital visits, rare dating rituals, etc...), then they will be entered in the order they were received.
Minimum bid increases are 50 cents for items under $50.
Minimum bid increases are $1 for items over $50.
Minimum bid increases are $5 for items over $100.
Minimum bid increases are $10 for items over $200.
Minimum bid increases are $20 for items over $500.
Withdrawing of bids is not permitted. Please do not submit any bids unless you are sure about what you want and what you can afford. If you change your mind and decide you no longer want something, your bid cannot be withdrawn. If you find something at a better price in another auction, your bid cannot be withdrawn. If you realize you can't pay for something, your bid cannot be withdrawn (which sounds silly, yes, but the rule stands). If you read an item description wrong, your bid cannot be withdrawn. The only way a bid can be withdrawn is if Filmtracks makes a mistake, or if you can show that you made an honest mistake or there was a misunderstanding. If the bidder suffers from a sudden severe illness or is seriously maimed by a large animal, the bid may be withdrawn on a case-to-case basis. So, if you're in doubt about a particular item, ask questions before submitting a bid on it.
If you are using someone else's e-mail account, especially if it is a parent, I must have a note of approval from them prior to accepting any bids from you. If you are using a parent's e-mail account, and you place bids without their knowledge or consent, and you do not pay, your parents will be held liable for full payment.

Updates:

Personalized updates will be e-mailed to you whenever something in one of your interests changes. This will vary for different bidders from once per week to multiple times daily. You will receive notification when you are out-bid on any item, and that notification will include the current bid on the item, as well as the current bidder's name. Notification by phone cannot be accommodated.

"$ -pros" = payment received/processing, "$ -sent" = item(s) sent to bidder
"VOID" = unusual circumstances and/or high bidder is a fraud. The item will either revert to previous high bid, or become open again.
Complete up-to-date standings are available 24 hours a day on the Filmtracks web site: http://www.filmtracks.com/auctions/. Updates will also be posted occasionally to rec.music.movies.

Payment:

All bids and payments are in U.S. dollars (USD).
Payment is expected promptly (not to exceed two weeks) when all of your items are marked "sold." Please do not join the auction if you cannot pay promptly.
If payment is not received one month after notification that the winnings have advanced to sold, they will revert to "open" status if there was no other bidder. Otherwise, the previous high bidder will be notified and asked if he/she would like to purchase it at the previously bidded amount. This usually happens once per auction.
I must receive your payment via U.S. mail before I will ship out your winnings.
Payment may be in the form of a personal check, cashier's check, a bank check drawn on a U.S. bank, U.S. or international money order, postal money order, Travelers Express money order, Western Union money order, or just about any type of official money order. Filmtracks reserves the right to wait for personal checks to clear before shipping. Make all payments out to "Christian Clemmensen" (the main Filmtracks webmaster), since the CDs are all his (and technically don't belong to the website).
Proceeds from Filmtracks auctions go directly to the server costs/improvements of the website.

Shipping:

You pay shipping from Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. to your location.
U.S. participans: Shipping and handling is a fixed cost of $3.20 to everyone in the U.S., no matter how large your total or how heavy your package (yes, the cost used to be $3.00, but the postal folks increased the price in 1999). The cost of $3.20 buys you either USPS 1st class, USPS 3rd class, 2-day Priority shipping, or regular UPS Ground shipping (my choice, depending on a number of factors). If you have other specific requirements, we can do that as well, but you must pay the difference.
For U.S. participants who spend over $100 in any Filmtracks auction will have regular domestic shipping costs waived.
Non-U.S. participants: Shipping to places outside the U.S. will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Airmail to Canada is generally very reasonable. Airmail to Australia is expensive, but surface mail to Australia is generally pretty reasonable, albeit slow. Airmail to England and Europe is usually pretty reasonable. Typically you will pay between approximately $5 and $8.
More details on shipping will be sent to you when your bids begin to advance to "sold." These details will include estimated ship dates and our mailing address.

Miscellaneous:

Filmtracks reserves the right to withdraw items without notice for trades. We've only had to do this once in our auction history, and we don't expect it to happen in this auction, but we need to include this disclaimer just in case.
Filmtracks reserves the right to reject any bid for any reason, or to deny access to any bidder for any reason. This is just a general disclaimer, not to make you tremble with fear or anything... :-)
Try to remain courteous to other bidders, even if he/she is getting on your nerves. Broadcasting another bidder's name with obscenities attached (on the ScoreBoard or other forums) is not acceptable adult behavior, and may result in termination of bids.
Religious propaganda sent to the auction address will not be tolerated. This has been a problem in the past, and it's not entirely illegal for Filmtracks to translate the propaganda into bids that the senders will be held accountable for.
