The problem with Kloser's score is that it doesn't fit either franchise at all. It's like a politician's speach: sounds nice but lacks the substance.
Goldsmith's and Horner's music represented well the terror and deep space whereas Silvestris predator had a distictive jungle-feel in it. Kloser's scores only creative idea are those cool predator / alien sounds and Kloser should have exploited that concept even more. Now you could fit this score into any film you like. If I didn't knew, I'd have guessed that it's from some movie about a Russian submarine.
Sounds like Kloser had access to Media Venture's Stock Music Archive(TM) where he picked up some rejected score and borrowed its main theme to AVP.
