The Amelie soundtrack is not the regular Hollywood leitmotif soundtrack. Instead, approach it as a "variations on a theme" work. This theme is the Parisian life. If you are unfamiliar with it, it is a simple matter of opening your mind and let the music bring you into another world. As long as you like beautiful and playful melodies, there is much to admire and enjoy in this soundtrack.

Some highlights:

Some of the more uptempo tracks always bring a smile on my face. Their warm sounds and happy melodies are a joy:

5. La Noyee
8. A Quai

There are some truly gorgious piano pieces too.

4. Comptine d'Un Autre Ete: L'Apres Midi (this is one of the most beautiful piano pieces I have heard)
17. Sur le Fil

At least Avatar doesn't have OBNOXIOUS ACCORDIONS making it so insufferable.
