Apollo 13 expanded score only album   Saturday, March 1, 2003 (3:11 p.m.)

I love James Horner's work
I have been researching the differant albums of apollo 13 for months.I to am disapointed in the regular release.I have perchased a promo album which is the way it should have been presented to the general public to begin with, shame on MCA Universal. Now for a question I have. This review talks abouts four albums. I have been seeing a Fifth album on ebay a so called expanded version with extra music on it. It to is said to a score only album with the extra music being the THX intro, Universal intro, THX outro ,main title alternate, all systems go/ the launch alternate and the re-entry & splashdown alternate a total time of 77:52.The label and stock number is Houston Records #NASA-CD990013 and the people selling it say it is extremily rare. I have tried for some time authenticate it with no success. It seems strange to me that if it so rare every time the auction is over in a day or two it is being sold again and is claimed to be an original disc. Can anyone help verify the existance of this album. Please e-mail me =

well, let me be your verification, this CD you speak of is authentic, and I own it. It was released through Houston Records by NASA. apparently they liked the score so much! all I can say is, if you run across it, get it immediately, the music is great, and the quality is crystal clear, couldn't get any better.
The alternate tracks are awesome too!

Bad verification, NASA hasn't anything to be with that "expanded" version, it's just one of the many a bootlegs that are floating around.
About the "extra" material, nothing new, the "alternate" tracks are just the re-recordings available from the 1998 Horner compilation albums (Silva, Sonic Images and Varese).

A complete shame, if you want to pay 30-50$ for that cd, then go for the REAL THING, the MCA promo.
