I don`t understand you!
When Williams is not doing something new (he uses the same old stuff again), as the case with "Harry Potter", you`re definitly complaining (and I agree).
But when he finally does something new, like "Attack of the Clones", which is quite unlike his previous SW scores, then you`re also complaining???
You want the same old stuff!

I can`t understand how you`re thinking. I love both TPM and AOTC as much as the old SW trilogy, and why?
Because they contain new elements, of course!

Any body know this: Is John Williams composing a new score for Harry Potter II?

Yes, Williams is Writing new music for Potter and for Potter 3.

And in case of AOTC, the music isn't like any other Star Wars movies, that's right but it's the worse so far. It is filled with percussion music, lacking of new themes and motives except across the stars which is nice to hear but not the best thing he did, the music is completely average Williams. It's not a masterpiece. I'm listening to E.T. and Close Encounters and the first 3 Star Wars scores lately and the magic in those scores, especially E.T. is something Williams never achieved again but the music is changing radically, they are far more romantical score than the current ones but still I just like AOTC as action music, not as a unique piece of art. The Arena music is just good, but not original, Zam chase is entertaining and fast but nothing much creative, and that's all. Maybe Jango's Escape a little bit. But generally I get bored listening to the rest. Across the Stars is a nice Suite but again, lots of flaws, the orchestration is too much average, he could have done it better and better I'm sure. A little more effort than Potter, but still 4 stars from me.

Johannes, it happens everywhere. Wether it is Mike Oldfield, Tangerine Dream, Hans Zimmer or John Williams, it happens. The fans are listening everything that isn't there, and not what is there, if you get my point. ;-)
