I mean, listen to it: bits and pieces from Peter Jackson's films all over the place! And people are bitching about James Horner ...

As it is the case with all SHore scores, The Aviator has a very strong musical concept and is firmly based on music history, but 75 % of its themes are lifted directly from LotR.
Maybe the score would have been different if Shore had a little more distance to his four years on LotR;
if he was still living in Middle- Earth back then, that would have been only too understandable.

But nevertheless, The Aviator suffers from a lack of fresh thematic material.
