Nixon's Walk (Stymee)
The song you are looking for is called Dido's Lament (When I am Laid in Earth). It is an aria in a opera called Dido and Eneas (Spelling might differ by translation). The opera is composed by Henry Purcell in the late 1600:s.
I stumbled upon this piece by chance when I presented a paper about the theory of diegetic music and non-diegetic music in films for my teacher at the university. He recognised it as Dido's Lament and by sure he was right.
For further notice, you may know that the song has been used in many other films such as "The Man Who Cried" and "Der Untergang (Downfall)".
I can't find any credits for the song in either Band of Brothers or Der Untergang but, it sure is the piece.
