Essential Jerry Goldsmith   Friday, May 28, 2004 (9:26 a.m.)

Right now I've got:

The Wind and the Lion
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Supergirl
Total Recall
Basic Instinct

On my to-get list are Lionheart, Legend and Poltergeist.

What are the essential Goldsmith scores, the ones that no self-respecting score collector should be without? Which ones should it be my top priority to acquire?

Here are some of my own suggestions that could be added to your list:

The Russia House, Chinatown, Patton, Planet of The Apes, Star Trek V, Rambo II. You shouldn't just limit yourself to the "essential goldsmith" scores. Listeners opinions vary. For example, Filmtracks gives Jerrys King Solomon's Mines 1 star. I think it's worth at least three.
Just choose for yourself, there is always something to like in each Goldsmith score. We all have a different pair of ears
