a BRILLIANT listening experience

only two stars?
overwhelmingly depressing?
I beg to differ. I think this is one of the most moving scores I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Is there sadness in it? Yes, but it's not overwhelmingly depressing. The layered choral moments are pure heaven ("That's Ohio" in particular) and tracks like "Sethe Recognises Beloved" are astonishing in their ability to evoke feeling.

An underrated film, and a truly underrated score.
