I love the song as well, and knowing the English translations of the French lyrics adds a whole new dimension to my feeling to the song, especially in this turmoil time when a war is being waged and people are dying. I also have the book Requiem, and I think the song is a very fitting backdrop.

Being a soundtrack fan myself, appreciation of good matching of the right music to the right visual image is one of my biggest interest. May I also also suggest you the following piece of musics,

Band of Brothers OST - No. 13 "Buck in Hospital"
Band of Brothers OST - No. 20 "BOB Requiem"
The Killing Fields OST - No. 1 "Pran's Theme"
The Killing Fields OST - No. 2 "Requiem for a City"
The Killing Fields OST - No. 4 "Pran's Theme II"

I think the tunes above are all so poignant, but not overtly militaristic sounding, yet still moving and may be useful for your project.

Regards.

Larry
