A Breath Of Fresh Air For Star Wars

I think the score for the new Star Wars movie is refreshing and something new to excite the next generation of Star Wars fans out there. It may not be anything like John Williams, but I think it is a breath of fresh air for the future of Star Wars. The movie needed this kind of score because the universe of Star Wars is being taken in a completely new direction of CGI animation. The John Williams scores were beginning to sound the same and very monotonous in nature. They are still powerhouse scores in all their glory, but I think that this new score by Kevin Kiner is very powerful and effective. I was blown away by the first cue featuring the thrasing electric guitars. I have never heard anything like that before in any of the previous Star Wars scores. And the use of synthesizers was absolutely stellar to the atomesphere of the film. I saw the film in the theatre recently and I have to say that it would be nothing without this score. A very entertaining listen that will keep me listening for quite some time to come. A powerful listen for anyone who wants something different from their Star Wars.
