Hmm, seems more like the director and composer themselves were referring to the opera, and Christian was simply quoting their words, not himself outrightly stating that the Siegfried Idyll was originally part of the opera. So seems more like Cronenberg and Shore are at fault in misidentifying what the Siegfried Idyll truly is.
