"Waltz to the Death" isn't Elfman's Joker theme (though it does exercise power over the character's on-screen performance). Elfman's actual theme, which is a bit subdued, is used sparingly, but it is unmistakably the bad guy's theme. On the album, you can hear it at the end of the former cue played by cellos, but it's easier to spot at 0:48-0:59 in "Final Confrontation". In the film, you can hear plenty more references not on the CD.
