To all Zimmer fanboys...   Sunday, July 13, 2008 (6:42 p.m.)

If you are a LEVEL-HEADED, RATIONAL fan of Hans Zimmer, then I apologize to you in advance. After all, we all hate those pathetic fanboys who LOVE to get personal with their insults whenever their great hero of worship is challenged, criticized or spoken a tad harshly of.

So I offer a little bit back. Just a little. To you rational Zimmer fans, if you enjoy this score, great. Nice to hear. If you don't, then that's a genuine shame and you can hope for an improvement with his next score.

To Zimmer_fan and others like him, go suck Hans Zimmer's German cock. And if you've drained his balls, then suck his clones' cocks. And while you're at it, suck each other's of your collective mouths haven't gone dry by then.

Hating all you Zimmer fanboys with love,

NL

Is it just me or is the "happy jolly theme" comment from Zimmer really the outright dumbest and insulting thing he's ever said?
For me, that's such a deeply revealing quote ... I've suspected it a long time ago, but never had any hard evidence, but that quote is the last piece of the puzzle: Zimmer has no idea about the needs of a specific film, and, as Christian put it nicely, he has no intuition whatsoever as a film composer in the traditional sense.

I don't care what other people say, if you can't see the painful one- dimensionality in his latest works, and those Batman films especially, then nobody on earth is able to save you.
Christian put it perfectly, Zimmer has put his own preferences and "ideas" over the good of the films he scores a long time ago. His ideas may be unique and easily recognisable, but they say nothing, zero, about any given character. And he's painting with such ridiculously broad and inflexible block strokes that he takes forever to make a point about those characters; I suspect that's why his suites usually ramble on for way over five minutes without any greater impact - no wonder when the basic material has no characteristic substance to begin with.

It's like he's sitting in front of any given movie, temp- tracks it with The Rock or Gladiator, and says "Hey, that works somehow, let me see how I can disguise it!"
I didn't think I heard correctly when I heard Chevaliers De Sangreal (my favourite Zimmer cue of the last eight years by the way) in "A Dark Knight".

I'll be so glad when he takes several years off and works with orchestras for a while, maybe then he will find an appreciation of that environment. Although I wouldn't be surprised to read comments by him soon, saying such a traditional ensemble was boring.

And yes, the woodwinds ... did Nolan, like Bruckheimer, also tell him he didn't want such girly- man instruments?

Now, see, I don't think this line of conversation will get us anywhere worth going.

It's not meant to be any kind of conversation, debate, or anything. Just me throwing a little bit of hate right back at those insulting fanboys and nothing more.
