Why defend this mediocre score?   Wednesday, July 30, 2008 (1:41 a.m.)

This review has legitimate arguments that criticize the weakness of the score, yet many people here rush to defend the music. Why? They thought it sounded cool! Or they think the reviewer is being to hard on Mr. Zimmer. One comment suggests that all score reviews should focus on the good of the scores and not mention the bad. Why? That defeats the purpose of a review.

For some reason many people here like to settle for the mediocre. Mr. Zimmer doesn't need your sympathy, he's a high paid professional and is expected to deliver a high quality score. Maybe he needs a few bad reviews so he will realize his faults and get his act together. What's the worse that can happen, he writes a better score next time?

This score is mediocre, but then again most of the scores which receive 4 star reviews in this website are mediocre scores as well. I certainly don't think this score was any worse than Potter 5 yet that one received 3 stars and to my ears it was a way worse score. IMHO this score deserved 3 stars, not 2. But in terms of functioning inside the movie it's a 5 star score. I can't imagine a better music for these new batman films tbh.

I completely agree with your opinion, I usually agree with you Christian on Zimmer scores, but I feel you gave him a 2 for this one due to your feelings about him more than the merit of the score for this one.
