I think the reviewer overlooked something... There were consistant themes and most of the time, the film was based not on disaster, but preparations for disaster, the emotion of hope and lost hope, so I think he did a pleasent job on that note.
I agree with the piano theme, absoulutely simple but what a theme it is. James is a true master of creating a piano love theme for films, and it is prooven here. I also liked the trumpet brass section in this film.
All together, there is a lot of cresendos and de-cresendos whitch works well with the film's emotional roller coaster.
