Music at the end of Die Hard   Sunday, December 12, 2004 (1:31 p.m.)

I know that the music when Karl leaps up and gets shot by Al is an unused cut from Aliens, but what is the piece that plays just before that where John and Holly embrace outside the (mostly in pieces) Nakatomi building? It's not on my bootleg version and doesn't seem to be listed on VS's limited edition either.

Cheers in anticipation,

Rodders

As far as I know it's a cue from John Scott's "Man on Fire", another score that was temp-tracked for Die Hard and ulimately stayed in the final cut of the film. For years (when my film music knowledge was very little, I mean very...) I thought it's Kamen's original music. Usually I'm all against any temp-tracking, but in the case of Die Hard the cues of already existing material work wonders in the film.

As far as I know, the musical cue at the end of die hard is not contained on any released version of the soundtrack, however it is featured on the end of the Aliens soundtrack. The music cue for the scene where bruce and holly get together at the end of the movie is also not released on any version of the soundtrack although a source has told me that it is availible on the original audio cassette of the die hard soundtrack which doesn't have the cinema poster image on the cover... I tried to get hold of this version on ebay but it was snapped up before i had the chance...

I would like to ask you if I could have a CDR copy of your bootleg version of the score as its almost impossible trying to get hold of any version of the score.. I'll gladly pay you for a copy and or exchange it for a copy of the new varesse sarabande release of the ghostbusters score..if you would like it?

Thanks for your time..

Dan
