John Williams concert in Sydney July 8th   Sunday, June 19, 2005 (9:18 p.m.)

For those in Sydney or its surrounds there is a concert performance of John William's work July 8th at Sydney Town Hall.

Further details here: http://www.worldofjohnwilliams.com

(No I am not a promoter - just passing on the word as the promotion isnt that strong here).

Alas John Williams is not conducting (if only!). Alas the Sydney Symphony is not performing. Should still be a great night though.

Enjoy!

Hey!

I went for the concert... It was rather good. Eminence is a youthful and energetic orchestra. Daniel Smith is a very animatic conductor!

My only disappointment was that they played the theme from The Lost World instead of the original Jurassic Park theme, which i think carries is a much better listen for the beginners.

in any case, the encore performances topped it off by saying they hit all of Williams's best pieces!

Bravo!

Dear Will,

Stumbled on this thread just then as I was just researching some more John Williams music. Just to keep you informed, the original Jurassic Park theme is one of my favourites from Maestro Williams and was actually my No.1 choice for a piece in the concert. Unfortunately however, at the time of the concert, the music for that piece was not published and so we weren't able to get the rights to perform it. I believe however that there may be another concert this year and hope to perform it then!

My best,

Daniel.

Does this mean I've missed out on the concert??

I saw an poster advertisement in Wynyard train station for a John Williams music concert for July 8th, but now I'm not sure if it said "2005" or "2006". I've tried searching his name on ticketek.com.au, no luck. I really hope that they are doing the concert again this year, if it already was on last year, 'cos I really adore his music!

Does anyone know definitely or can find me a webpage where I can see ticket info for this concert?

Thanks,

*Big John Williams fan*
