I've told you this once if I've told you a million times: thematic consistency does NOT mean simple rehash or cutting/pasting of cues. Thematic consistency means taking the foundation from the first score and building on it with entirely fresh music that nevertheless contains connections to existing material. How to Train Your Dragon 2 does it right; Journey 2: The Mysterious Island does it right. Even The Expendables 2 does it right, for the most part. The Expendables 3, however, does it very much wrong.
