Actually, I was sitting in the theater watching the movie and hearing the score, said to myself, "That's *gotta* be Thomas Newman," because in parts it did evoke "Road to Perdition" (one of my favorite scores). His style's really distinctive. When I get the CD and hear "Mr. Ray" straight up with no movie to distract me (heh!) I'll offer an opinion on it compared to "Dirty Money" from "Road". Shame Newman didn't get the Oscar for the RtP score.
