A Perspective of Gladiator   Friday, January 1, 2010 (4:37 p.m.)

I honestly think this review is honestly really hard on Hans Zimmer. I mean Gladiator was truly one of his masterpieces. As I have noticed, many reviews on this site does NOT praise Ziemmer's work rather than criticiae it. Gladiator should have been obviously rated higher. It is oe of the greatest musical pieces made for the film industry. Lisa Gerrard, hans zimmer and Klaus Bedalt have changed the styles of music with the beauty of Gladiator.

As for plagiarism, I have listened to the Planets MANY times and thought the chords between Mars and the Battle are similar. I do not find that eligible to be considered plagiarism. The melodies are quite different.

Hans Zimmer has had his ups and downs. But he has made beautiful work as far as I know. Gladiator, Lion King, Crimson Tide, The Da Vinci Code/Angels and Demons, The Last Samurair, etc are ALL amongst my favourites. Hans Zimmer is judged unfairly by these reviews. I don't find the anniversary edition worth buying but Gladiator is a MUST HAVE masterppiece soundtrack. It DEFINITELY deserves more than 3 stars, i would honestly give it AT LEAST 4 stars if not above.

I hope no one considers me as someone who worships hans zimmer. I am not trying to be bias, its just i find gladiator to be a beautifully woven soundtrack that deserves much more credit than this review gives it. Hans has often been the musical genius that contributes greatly. Thank you for another beautiful piece Mr. Zimmer!

I agree 100% with what you say here. I love the soundtrack to Gladiator and rate it 5 stars. Thanks for putting so much so well into words. CT

Gladiator sounds pretty good, sure, but the work is Holst's more than Zimmer's.
