Let me start by saying that I love Horner's music; even with the rip-offs I could really care less - his music is lovely and enjoyable. That said, I find it interesting to find segments of music taken from classical music. Not many people probably notice these connections since few people listen to classical anymore. I've noticed three major rip-off from classical pieces.
1. Braveheart - Main Theme - sounds SO much like "Jupiter" from Gustav Holtz's "The Planets".
2. Willow - Willow's Theme (the intense, adventure theme) - sounds almost EXACTLY like the theme of the first movement of Robert Schumann's symphony no.3. It's quite amazing, I'm sure anyone who's familiar with Willow would see the connection.
3. Glory - track 9 (part of it) - sounds very similar to Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis". (A portion of this fabulous piece is found on the Master and Commander soundtrack.
Hopefully somebody besides me finds this interesting
