Who is this reviewer? I've never before read such garbage. Serra' score, while unusual and different from Barry, was not bad at all. It was modern, funky, and did incorporate a modern version of the Bond theme throughout.

In my opinion, his work is far superior to the Barry-lite garbage that David Arnold, a hack if there ever was one, has been foisting on us for the better part of a decade. Barry was a genius, and Arnold was the real disgrace, serving up pathetic but unmemorable scores (particularly for The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day) not worthy of the Bond legend.

Thank god for Thomas Newman - he added some new, modern sonic flourishes for Skyfall that stood out. In fact, I think Newman's approach was in a way a modern interpretation of Bond music, something that was done brilliantly 17 years ago by Serra.

What the hell? Modern isn't always better. This commenter probably thought Goldeneye was greatest thing to ever grace his/her ears even though its synthetic elements are amateurish, appropriate for the 64 game, and don't compete in any way with David Arnold's immensely original, varied, engaging, and modern, 'African Rundown' and 'Miami International' from Casino Royale and 'White Knight' from Tomorrow Never Dies, just to name a few. Also, by modern sonic 'flourishes', did you mean 'droning' in your attempt to sound posh? 'Shanghai Drive/Lobby', 'Drive to Skyfall', and 'On The Moors': Those are the token highlights that blind you to the fact that Skyfall's low points were in Newman's blatant inadequacies in creating grand orchestral action. I mean, 'Komodo Dragons' and 'Escalator/Crash' have one of the most cringe/hate-worthy rhythms I have ever heard in my life. I hope you've smartened up.
