Because he's rating the score itself how it pertains to the project Goldsmith or Horner wrote their scores are, NOT the album itself. Say if this is was a score review for a compilation of Goldsmith's Star Trek paired with Rosenman's inferior Star Trek IV. It would be unfair just to average in Goldsmith's 5-star effort with Rosenman's 2-star. Or what if this was just a separate 5-star score like The Hunt For Red October, where album's sound quality and track selections are sorely lacking.

Christian like to rate different aspects of a scores composition and its presentation on album so it doesn't look like he's handicapping a single composition because it was poorly presented or paired with an inferior score.

That's why, despite all categories receiving a 3-Star rating, he kept them all separate so he doesn't have people accusing him of "Goldsmith's Walton score is SO and 5 star effort! It's unfair you scored it with Horner's TOTALLY 1-star "Rascals and Robbers" causing it to be degraded to 3 stars. Also, it's not Goldsmith's fault that for cheap TV sound quality so you shouldn't count off for that!! BLAH BLAH BLAH!"

I hope that clarified everything.
