The merits of the score (and the film) aside, the amphibious landings at Incheon led by MacArthur were decidedly not a failure; in fact it led to the near complete defeat of the North Korean forces. The later entry of China into the war eventually led to the armistice with a North and South Korea, and while there are many things that can be debated in the course of the war, the Incheon landings were a major victory for the UN forces.
