I agree! As great a film as Jaws is, it is even greater because of the score. The main theme is so exciting, I have a 60-second sample on my hard drive, I listen to it every day. I just cannot imagine the film being so effective without the relentless pounding of that main theme! Terrifying, beautiful, evocative, it is perfect! I'd say equal in importance to the sunrise theme used in 2001: A Space Odyssey (Strauss's Also Sprach Zarathustra).
