Trumpet or horn, it's just not so important, but I agree it's sensational. As for the player, I can be wrong because it wasn't Boston Symphony, but these main solo brass parts might be performed by Tim Morrison, which works very often with Williams. If You're a fan of big, fanfaring trumpet writing I can reccomend You Trevor Jones' work, especially the Cliffhanger Theme and score from The Mighty.
