Another good Zimmer soundtrack

Wow. I bought this CD a few days ago and have been playing it non-stop at home since. To my shame, I'd never heard of Zimmer until Gladiator, but since then, I'd happily buy his work. I actually came across this by accident at a sale and got it for 1...

I can forgive the warbling 'new age' opening song with its ill-chosen MIDI drum beat because of what follows: Good solid Zimmer and what we're used to - Hints of Wagner and Mozart's Requiem surface frequently during this collection, and as always, he sticks to his solid theme, a theme that is in your head after just one listening.

Not as enjoyable as Gladiator with its varied leitmotifs, and the female vocalist could never compete with Dead Can Dance's Lisa Gerrard. But King Arthur still stirs the blood and delivers good filmic stuff.

I have this movie on DVD, and although the below-par flick will gather dust on my shelf, the soundtrack CD definitely won't.
