That is such an intelligent comment...
While I do really like Zimmer's music, and think he really is one of the best current composers, his style is so very different from that of Williams, that to compare them is like trying to compare Wagner and Vivaldi (I hope you know who they are, but if you don't they are old and long-dead codgers, but, couple of hundred years after their death, surprisingly enough people still listen to their music).
And as much as I like Zimmer's work, I personnaly think he is not quite yet in the same league as John Williams, or Jerry Goldsmith for that matter (yes, Jerry Goldsmith is another old codger, and sadly a dead one). Maybe when he grows up a little more he will approach their level of musical mastery...
Point is, you are entitled to not love Williams's work. But dismissing him simply because he happens to be older than Zimmer is the stupidest argument possible.
And in Zimmer's own words about John Williams, in an interview given in 2013 about his writing the music for Man of steel, and therefore following in John Williams's footsteps : "Seriously, he's the greatest film composer out there, without a doubt". There rests my case.
