Imagine a score like

Any idiot can compare Star Wars and The Green Mile

The soundtrack is indeed slow, but as Thomas suggested, the soundtrack is very supportive to the film. I didn't much like it until after I had seen the movie. It fits the film well and casues you to feel what you see. For this reason, it's no wonder Mr. Zimmer was nominated for best original score.
