I somewhat agree about the score being overrated. And as for me, it is definitely not the best score of the year.
Itís hard to compare such a thing with scores of just another kind (e.g. I liked The War of the Worlds greatly and at the same time was fascinated by John Powellís The Robots; and still they are both incomparable with this Zorro). So if to remember last scores of such category Iíd say that this yearís Kingdom of the Heaven is far more interesting in themes and orchestration (also well pretends to be ethnic).
On one hand I havenít seen The Legend of Zorro and canít say how good it is in the film, but on the other Iíve seen KotH and didnít like it at all, although I liked the score.
So Iíd give four stars for the spanish instrumentation and rhythms, and for the good mild sound.
