Sheet Music   Monday, April 22, 2002 (2:58 p.m.)

Hi there,
I agree that the music to Legends of the Fall is wonderful and would love to have it played at my upcoming wedding. Does anyone know where I could find the sheet music to it, especially the track "The Ludlows"?

Thanks,
Christine

Re: Sheet Music at www.sheetmusicplus.com   Wednesday, October 23, 2002 (6:38 a.m.)

Hi! I tried www.sheetmusicplus.com to find the music sheet for "The Ludlows", but it's only available in floppy disk format. My piano is the conventional (upright) type, not digital. So the disk format is of no use to me. Can someone please help... I need the sheet music urgently!!

Thanks!!

"The Ludlows" features in the book "The Definitive James Horner Collection". You can buy this at www.boosey.com. It's roughly 9. I hope this helps. Sorry for taking so long to reply.

Hello,
I just went to a site www.pianofiles.com
You need to create a free membership, but it has the ludlows.
I think you have to email people. I've been doing that. I don't know how the site works, but it's free. It's an awesome site...

Sheet music for Ludlows / Twilight and Mist (from Legends of the Fall)   Wednesday, June 11, 2003 (6:53 a.m.)

Well, after reading your threads, I can see a lot of people are still looking for "The Ludlows". Hal Leonard, who is the large publisher that prints movie themes and popular music, never printed "The Ludlows", though they did print piano sheet music for the title track from "Legends of the Fall" (1st track on the soundtrack CD). These are two completely different pieces. There was a version of "The Ludlows" printed in a $35 book called "The Definitive James Horner". This book was printed in England in the late 90's and is now out of print and very difficult to find. I have been fortunate enough to review that version of "The Ludlows" and while it's similar to the soundtrack, it's not quite the same. Looks like there's a new CD book out with a collection of movie themes that also includes "The Ludlows". I haven't reviewed that version yet, but the collection is $35. So where *can* you get sheet music? Well, I transcribed it from the original soundtrack, using some "slow down" software so I could hear every note. I ended up doing this for my string quartet after wedding clients requested the piece and (as most people have discovered), the music just wasn't available. I entered it into my sheet music software and have since done different arrangements of the piece: Solo Piano, String Quartet, Quartet & Piano, String Trio, Flute-Violin-Piano trio, Violin & Piano, just to name a few. After posting the title on my quartet's website as an example of a request we had done, the search engines picked up the page and I've been getting e-mails for this piece ever since. In fact, I'm now in the process of obtaining a print license from Hal Leonard so that I can formally publish it and make it available to everyone. I'm hoping the license process finishes soon. In the meantime, (for legal reasons), I cannot sell copies. But if somebody has a wedding or time-sensitive event, send me an e-mail and we can work something out. I have a page devoted to "The Ludlows" on my string quartet's site that lists my complete list of instrumentations and also has an MP3 of my arrangement (computer generated) that you can listen to. http://www.after5stringquartet.org/Ludlows.htm Hopefully I'll publish soon and we can all have a copy! :-) Carla

I finally received my print license (which means the piece is legal and licensed by the copyright holder), opened a sheet music publishing company, and now have copies of "The Ludlows" ("Twilight and Mist") for sale at my site: www.boardmanmusic.com

Thanks!

Carla, how can you 'publish' sheet music that's already been 'published' by Hal Leonard? I don't think you're using the right word.
