What drives me bananas about this score is that Rosenman himself claimed that, for some cues, he "invented" a language for the chorus to sing (occasionally using his own name backwards). There could, quite literally, be no better example of the composer's complete lack of understanding of the subject matter of the film. You're scoring a Tolkien film, and you have to INVENT a language? It's pretty obvious that Rosenman did exactly zero research before writing this one, and didn't even bother to crack the book. Which helps to explain why it's pretty forgettable, beginning to end.
