The first time I heard this score, I felt that it was somewhat bland. But having listened to it several times, I've become completely enveloped in this quietly elegant and altogether amazing score. It's a big change from Williams' usual explosive action, and a very welcome change, at that. The themes are both restrained but stirring, the orchestrations are remarkable, particularly the use of the soloists Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman (sp?), both of whom are vital to this score. Mr. Williams WILL get an Oscar nom, and most likely, a win.
