Just caught the old NBC "Merlin" film today on the Sci-Fi Channel.

During the scene with Merlin fighting the dragon, I noticed the music was strikingly similar to Dark City. Not just a passing similarity, but almost verbatum from Dark City.

Wouldn't you know that Trevor Jones scored it, likely from his work on Excalibur.

I highly enjoy Dark City, so don't think I'm just ripping on him or anything. Dark City and Merlin were produced within a year of each other so I can see that his mind may have been set in one mode; still though, using the EXACT same melody and very similar rhythmic motifs, kind of lazy. Guess other composers have gotten away with it too though.

Just an observation.
