There are only 2 main themes in the soundtrack... disappointing in comparison to Shindler's List. There seems to be a dominance of 'filling material' in John Williams' music these days... a result of critics' bashing I suppose. Sigh...

Not necessarily. I suppose more a result of today's trends in film music, maturity of his music and developement of his minimalistic approaches to composing these days.

When there were 12 themes in a Williams score, people were compaining about the over-the-top, overblown music that all the time shouts from the speakers. When there are 2 themes in a Williams score, backed by very sophisticated and intelligent underscore people complain about lack of themes...

I think listening to the critics is the last thing Williams cares about...
