It must be the lack of leitmotifs. My taste is maybe too much polarized towards work like John Williams'.
To be honest, i dont really care much for the authenticity of the instrumentation. It might be a nice touch to the score, but nothing more in my opinion.
The choral work is indeed very good. I prefer wordless choral work (like OOHH AAHH) over latin song. In fact i dont like that very much. In the end, I would give this score a thin 4 stars
