I *LOVE* this soundtrack! I don't normally go for sentimental music; but James Horner effortlessly uses the London Symphony Orchestra to convey moods of child-like playfulness (in the quasi-Baroque-styled "The Forest"), danger (in "The Accident"), the realization by the Furlings that they must cooperate and work as a team if they are to build the flying machine that will help them get the medicine for their sick friend (in a Janissary-style march used as a bridging section in "The Journey Begins"), and hopeful expectation. (in "Flying" and "The Children/Maybe One Day..., Maybe One Day".) And the Hymn-like "Once Upon a Time with Me" is, to me at least, one of the most beautiful songs to come from (of all things) an animated movie. It's second only to Jerry Goldsmith's and Paul William's "Flying Dreams" from "The Secret of NIMH". I would *definitely* like to have the orchestral score for this masterpiece.:)
