Now Playing: POTC Dead Man's Chest

I mostly agree with this review; however, I disagree with comment that composer John Debney could have snuck in an electric guitar into the score of Cutthroat Island. The electric guitar would have ruined the score. (I highly recommend Cutthroat Island)
As for this score, Dead Manís Chest has its enjoyable moments and disapointments. Unfortunately, it lacks the excitement and the fast pace rhythm of the first score. There is not much originality on the part of Herr Zimmer. The CD should have included more music from the film. The music from the end battle with the Kraken is missing, as well as a repirse of the themes and motifs one often hears during the scrolling of the end creidts I lament that I did not hear a Pirates Life for Me. For a movie that is based on a beloved Disney ride, I think that song should have been included somewhere in the score and in the film for that matter. Although, Two Hornpipes had the ring of the original ride. The Tietso Remix is a worthy listen too.
I can say I did enjoy listening to parts of this score. ( Mostly the tracks I listed in the former paragraph). It isn't as good as the first, but I recommend it to all of the fans of Hans Zimmer and those who prefer his sound in the POTC movies. To the others who were disapointed with the film and the score, don't bother. And to all you pirates and sailors reading this: immer eine Steife Brise.
