I must disagree with your assessment. Just listened to the score, and it's pretty darned awesome. In retrospect, Patrick Doyle was an appropriate composer choice for the new Potter score, but now that I'm hearing it, expectations are met and exceeded; Goblet is appropriately dark, moody, and rich. It's not too far removed from the soundscape that Williams created for the first three films, and the transition from composer to composer doesn't feel in the least disjointed. True, Doyle doesn't cull much from Williams' thematic palette, but Hedwig's Theme does indeed appear, which is used in tasteful ways in one or two places within the score. Doyle generally makes the score his own, with some really elegant orchestration that stands out from Williams' usual by-the-books style. This is particularly evident in a number of the waltz pieces, as well as some of the more uncharacteriscally whimsical and epic pieces.

I won't quote many tracks just yet, in lieu of spoilers, but I just have to mention The Quidditch World Cup, my personal favorite from the score. Quidditch has the aforementioned elegant orchestration out in full force, but really surprises when it interlaces a relentless percussion-pounding/chant-infused cue that's just made for cinematic presentation. [This was the very same cue used in one of the previous teaser trailers for the movie.]

Personally, Williams' first two scores didn't do much for me, although I enjoyed Prisoner of Azkaban to a large extent, due to the strong presence of the Window To The Past and Double Trouble theme motifs. Doyle doesn't hold on to thematic strands quite as much as Williams does (there is one new theme, which appears to serve as Goblet's primary music identity, heard most prominently in "Harry In Winter" -- I believe this is the track that was changed from the name "Harry Potter's Love"), but his score for the new film is a beautifully-original piece of work, and a fabulous listen. That said, I now can't wait to hear the music in context of the movie.
