What is the name of the song played by the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra during the Introduction?

Hello. The piece played is a version of Scherzo movement from Felix Mendelsshons's "Midsummers nights dream". There are many recordings of it available. And some are very close to the performance you here in the movie. Others are overly slow or quite lacking. I could reccomend the recording i have, but i'm in a foriegn country at the moment so i cant give you the details. I would suggest that you go to a music store where you can listen to various versions on headphones, before buying.

That song was just too good... I replay that chapter on my Dvd just to listen to it for a couple of minutes =)

And the conductor is none other than Lalo Schifrin, who's worked with the director of this film on other projects. Makes me wonder, though, why is the Silence of the Lambs score so underrated? The sense of dread the title track depicts and the quiet instensity are quite remarkable.
