Walmart Sucks! No bonus JW interview download!   Friday, May 6, 2005 (2:56 p.m.)

Buyers beware. I pre-ordered the disc from Walmart solely for the exclusive bonus JW interview download. I received the disc today. To redeem the bonus track, I need a claim number printed on a claim card that is supposed to be included with the CD. Guess what! It wasn't!! So I called Walmart customer service. They put me on-hold for 15 minutes. The customer service rep didn't know her left hand from her right cheek. After wasting another 5 minutes of my time, she said she was going to transfer me to the "download" department, and then she hung up on me!!

The is the last time I'll do any business with those incompetent buffoons at Walmart. I hope they get bought out in a hostile takeover and liquidated real soon.

I have the same problem. I preordered from Walmart, but the CD showed up 2 days after the release date and did not contain any claim number to get the download. That is the only reason I bought the CD from Walmart. Otherwise I could have saved $2 on shipping and bought it from Best Buy. The download is supposed to be 3 minute interview with John Williams about the music for SITH. I called their Customer Service and they put me on hold for 20 minutes. I explained the problem and the opened up a trouble ticket and said she was forwarding my problem to the "Resolutions Department". They are supposed to Email me the claim number, but I'm not holding my breath. The more people that call Walmart and report the problem, the sooner it should get resolved...I hope. I will update this site again, if or when they resolve the problem and I have information to share.

UPDATE: I finally managed to get through to the download department of the Wal-mart customer service. The technician gave me a claim code over the phone, and I was able to download the clip. The initial wait time was 20 minutes. The call itself took about 35 minutes --- WAY more than the bonus track is worth!!

Just because you can do everything online doesn't mean you have to. Is there seriously not a Wal-Mart within reasonable driving distance from your house? I am sorry that you had all that trouble, however. Better luck next time!

The answer is yes, and I am sorry but I do not see the connection. Are you implying that the fact that I got the CD online as opposed to a store had something to do with the missing claim card?

Sorry if I broke the structure of this thread or if you are seeing this message twice. I am new at this and I think I replied to the original message, when I should have replied to the last message so that it would be listed in the correct order (organized by date). Anyway, I finally got a resolution to this problem as well by Emailing Walmart's music download department at musicdownloads@walmart.com. The did not explain why it happened or give any details about why they mailed out CD's with no claim code. All they said was this:

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Below is a new redemption code...

Downloading the file was a hassle because I had to download Walmart's download manager software and then it took about 15 minutes for the 3MB file (I have a 56K modem). The bonus track is an interview with John Williams where he describes very briefly the music of the film and gives the translation the Sanskrit choir. Not something I would listen to more then once, so I agree with the other person, not worth the hassle. I was hoping for a concert version of the Emperor's theme or a new Dark Side/Imperial Medley but I guess I was dreaming (laugh). Anyway for other customers that need their code, Email Walmart at musicdownloads@walmart.com and then gave them about 24 hours to get back to you.

Also, to answer the person about why we're doing this online instead of in the store it is because you have to go to Walmart's internet site and then click a button that says "redeem bonus track" in order to get the special audio file. The bonus track is not available on the CD, you are forced to get it over the Internet and save it to your computer in order to hear it.

No, I'm just saying that if you actually went to the store, you'd have noticed the claim card was missing when you got out to the parking lot. Than you could just turn around and go back to customer service. They might have solved the problem sooner than by going online. That's all I'm trying to say.

I don't understand how buying from Best Buy saves you $2 on shipping. Are you sayng that you could have gone to Best Buy and got it, in which case, the same would be true for Walmart. In any event, the main reason I am chiming in, is because I also bought the cd from Walmart and had no problems with the download. The ticket was placed neatly inside and redeeming took about 30 seconds. I am sorry for your trouble, but I get the feeling that it is the exception rather than the rule.

Hi Waters,

Sorry I didn't make that part clear- there is a Best Buy store in my city, but no WalMart. The closest one is miles away in another city. I ordered the product from Walmart because I wanted the bonus track, but had I known what was going to happen, I could have just drove to Best Buy a few blocks away and saved myself the shipping and the hassle. Since posting the previous messages, Walmart sent me a "sorry note" and explained that there was a problem with the UPC on the CD's and also an issue with their website that they corrected. I eventually got the code and the download.

Extra Songs   Friday, May 27, 2005 (11:18 a.m.)

I know at least Target was offering an extra track or two with the purchase of this CD. What is/are the name/s of the track/s and is there any thought on them. (Hard to review just one song, I'd imagine.)
