I totally agree with you. AMAZING score.
If you're looking for a recording that features the same enormous dynamics and pwer outside of the film music circle check out the London Symphony recording of Johan de Meij's Symphony 1 (The Lord of the Rings) Sitting in the theater as the main theme for Sinbad played for the first time I was immediately reminded of the first movement from this symphony. Note: Im talking stylistic similarity...the themes themselves bear no resemblence to Sinbad.
