Is it really THAT bad?

So, after reading this surprisingly scathing review- I just gotta ask- is it really total poop, or does it just offend your STAR TREK sensibilities?
I tend to listen to most film scores as stand-alone music (and most of my recent favorites are from films I have no intention of seeing).
So- is it good light-hearted fare for a Saturday afternoon, that just didn't match the movie and legacy- or is it truly just an expensive coaster? I ask because the Intrada package is kind of tempting.
