I hate to burst your bubble, but this WAS based on a true story. Thomas Hewitt was eventualy transfered to the prison in Wichita, Kansas. His name was legally changed, he had 14 plastic surgeries to help fix his face thanks to the tax payers, he was eventually allowed out for community work because he was a "model prisoner", he helped clean up cemetaries under close security. He died last fall of cancer. The rest of his family that was arrested were sent to prison and either died or were put to death. Thomas Hewitt wasn't given a death sentence because of his "disability." My uncle works at the Witchita prison, and helped provide security for Thomas Hewitt, he also provides it for the BTK killer.
