If you're so insistent on mentioning PIRATES, all I have to say that TR2 doesn't hold a candle to PIRATES, especially thematically (say what you will about it, but PIRATES was one of MV's most thematically-focused scores in years comparatively). And if you're comparing the synths/electronics use in the two scores, PIRATES sounds a heck of a lot better than the synthetic 'beats' in TR2. Now if Silvestri HAD composed a score more in the vein of The Mummy Returns, we wouldn't be having this discussion (because that is so obviously a great score).
