Boiling Teapot sound in track Nr.4

there is a boiling teapot sound in track nr. 4 "Betrayal" starting at 1.24. is this a mastering error or somekind of (disturbing) effect? it is on the japanese edtion as well on the FSM release, so I guess it is on the original tapes as well.
can someone please tell me what this is?
