Real Media??? Real Awful!   Thursday, May 20, 2004 (2:13 a.m.)

Great site...BUT...why would a site dedicated to film with an emphasis on soundtracks leave out the OS X community, the dominant OS of the professional audio recording and production community? The .ra files are not compatible with OSX or OS9 for that matter. Not looking for a flame war...just letting you know about the incompatibile format.

You can get the RealOne player free for OS X. Or, for you OS 8 and 9 users, you can use the free RealPlayer 8 "basic" version.

In fact, all of the audio clips for this site are created on a Mac running OS 9.1...

Here's a link to the list of compatible file formats for RealPlayer for Mac OS X: http://home.real.com/product/help/macr1p_g/en/Media_Formats.htm

All you have to do is go to realone.com and get the free real one player. I agree that the real player samples here and elsewhere are pretty #####ty compared to if they were in quicktime, but it's always good to have both realplayer, and WMP (which sucks ass as it is) on your comp just in case, because after all, not everyone in the internet business is as smart with music as MAC users, so you get #####ty quality, because they use even #####tier windows computers.
