This is best example I can remember where Williams is going about making an electronic sounding score. Especially on Track "The Intersection Scene". Although it's faint to hear (but more noticeable in film) it sounds like a synthesized sound straight oringal Terminator (Brad Fiedel). Thought this was a great idea and only hope this was used more often in film. Did anyone else recognize a similarity?

Also the sound effects used in music for the ships signaling each other (sound scares the crap out of me) is similiar to Close Encounters. In several sections of film (not on soundtrack I don't think) there's a tibetan horn being used. Same for when kid opens door in Close Enounters.

Also what was that horn being used by aliens (similiar to fog horn)? Sounds very similiar if not the same as that huge horn Gimli plays near end of LOTR:TTT.

I love that sound! It scares the crap out of me too . It's called the "Tripod Call." And the effects is achieved using a digeridoo ( an Austrailian horn ) and computer synthesized effects to make it more tech sounding. I don't know if John Williams was involved in making the sound though.
